Mavs Camp Highlights
Congrats Mavs!!
From our Maverick family to yours,
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the past 25 years as an organization! It is hard to believe what started out as a thriving pee-wee team back in 1996 turned into 4 youth hockey teams competing all summer long. We are very thankful for all the players and families who have entrusted our organization with their player development.
Our organization owes a big thank you to Mas Fukushima, the person who started the Mavericks in 1996. Mas had a huge influence (and still does) on how our organization is run and the fundamentals we teach. We would also like to recognize Pat Cullen, the head coach of the ‘86 Mavericks team and longtime Coaching Director. Pat's work ethic and dedication for greatness is reflected in our coaches, as many of them played for him at some point in their career. There are countless others we would like to thank, from those who have served on the board to those who have been team managers. A big thanks to Caitlyn Gunnare and Grey Larson, they were both invaluable in building this organization. Caitlyn still serves as our Assistant GM as well as webmaster.
Since day one, we have referenced the Mavericks as being one big family. The camaraderie is seen daily as some of our original teammates are now coaches and know our youngest players by name. The relationship does not fade when a player makes a team at another level, instead, the alumni congratulate them on their achievement and offer words of advice to help further their hockey career.
It has always been our intention to help each player achieve their goals in hockey, whatever they may be. From those that dream of being drafted to the NHL to those that wish to play for their high school team. Each dream is different, and we see it as our job to help them realize and achieve it.
Once again, we thank everyone for 25 wonderful years. To the players, coaches, and administrators but most of all, the parents. The ones who get up before the sun and drive to practice, the ones who take time off work to haul their player to the far corners of the hockey world. We thank you and may we be blessed with another 25 years of success both on and off the ice.
